Emma van den Akker is a Philadelphia based oil and acrylic painter, originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia. Inspired by her grandfather, a career painter, van den Akker dabbled in art before becoming serious about painting in high school. Van den Akker uses paint to express movement and emotion in her abstract pieces and portraits. Van den Akker has been featured in Almost Real Things art magazine as one of their top 10 Artists to Watch and has exhibited her work through the Philly Art Collective in Philadelphia.
